Yesterday and Today

Yesterday was the first group run of the new year with the running club. I had decided I would do about 5 miles only, since I've taken 3 weeks or so off from running. I have friend who is about 20 years younger than me (how is that possible??!?? Not that I have a friend, but that she could possibly be that much younger than me?) who wanted to come along, but she hasn't run since the last time we ran together...early June, 2011! I told her I would walk with her as much as she needed. So it ended up being almost a mile run and 3 miles of power walking. But it was good conversation and girl bonding time. :)

Today was leg/glute day again:

Deadlifts: 121X8, 131X5, 131X5
Pull throughs: 90X8, 80X10, 90X10
Goblet Squats: 30X8X3 sets
SLDL's: 30'sX8, 35'sX8, 35'sX6
Hyperextensions: 8, 8, 8
X-Band walk: 8, 8, 8
Hanging Leg Raise: 8,8,8

I've designed a 30 minute conditioning workout for tomorrow morning. Then Wednesday will be Pilates/Yoga in the a.m. and running club at the track in the evening.

Over the weekend, I also calculated out my training paces for the Buffalo HM. It's an 18 week schedule, and I'm about 24 weeks out right now. I'm going to add about 2 weeks to the training schedule, because I know I'm going to lose a week when we drive across country to get Pete moved.

The more I think about that race, the more excited I get. I want to break 2 hours. Even 1:59:59 is acceptable. I'm going to lose 10 pounds between now and then. A quick Google (for whatever that's worth) tells me that losing 10 pounds should make me 4:22 faster in a HM. (It cited a Runners World article and claimed to have science to back it up.) My first HM was 2:06. So with intense training and some excess baggage gone, I should be able to break 2 hours as my "Welcome to NY" run. :)
